IMD-610 + IMD621/6 Painting Technique

Supplies by Mayco Colors: S-2121 Shiny Black, SC-15 Tuxedo, S-2200 Marshmallow White, SC-16 Cotton Tail, SC-3 Wine About It, SC-23 Jack O' Lantern, SC-5 Tiger Tail, SC-24 Dandelion, SC-13 Grapel, SC-26 Green Thumb, SC-14 Java Bean, SC-54 Vanilla Dip

General Directions: Begin with properly cleaned and fired 03 bisque. With a damp sponge, wipe down each piece to remove any dust. Refer to photo as needed for color placement.

Sushi Dishes (IMD 610, IMD 621, IMD 622)

1. Apply 3 even coats of Marshmallow White to tops of all dishes.

2. Use 3 even coats of Shiny Black for the outside of bowl and cup, bottom to edges of plates and "island" where person sets on lid.

3. Transfer patterns to plates. For the Japanese characters, apply 3 coats of Tuxedo. Block in flower stems with 3 coats of Java Bean. Use 3 coats of Wine About It for the flowers; when dry, detail with Cotton Tail. Apply 3 coats of Green Thumb to the leaves. Shade and detail leaves with Java Bean.

4. For trelliswork on remaining plate, apply 3 coats of Green Thumb for largest area, 3 coats of Tiger Tail for next area and 3 coats of Wine About It to circle.

5. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.

Rice Bowl & Lid (IMD 623 & IMD 624)

1. Apply 3 even coats of Marshmallow White to the inside of bowl and large area of lid, including inside. Use 3 even coats of Shiny Black for the outside of bowl.

2. Transfer pattern bowl. Block in fish fins with 2 coats of Dandelion and body of fish with Jack O' Lantern. When dry, shade bottom with Wine About It, add eye with a dot of Tuxedo and detail/ outline with Java Bean.

3. Antique pants with Green Thumb then use 2 medium washes of Green Thumb. Trim pants with 3 coats of each of following colors: White, Wine About It and Tuxedo.

4. Antique kimono with Tiger Tail; when dry apply 2 medium washes of Tiger Tail. Use 3 heavy washes of Wine About It for the collar of kimono. Use Cotton Tail to detail flower petals of kimono and Grapel for the centers. Use 3 coat of Green Thumb for the circles. Trim out kimono in 2 coats of Tuxedo.

5. Apply 3 coats of Vanilla Dip to flesh areas. Clean out eye area and apply Cotton Tail. Detail with Tuxedo. Tint some Vanilla Dip with Java Bean for lips.

6. Use 3 coats of Cotton Tail for the sock and 3 coats of Java Bean for shoe.

7. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.

Sake Cup (IMD 625)

1. Apply 3 even coats of Marshmallow White to the inside of cup. Use 3 even coats of Shiny Black for the outside of cup.

2. Transfer pattern to cup. Apply 3 coats of Dandelion to top wings and 3 coats of Grapel to the bottom wings. Detail wings with Green Thumb, Wine About It and Cotton Tail. Body and antenna are Tuxedo.

3. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.

Plain Rice Bowl Lid (IMD 626)

1. Apply 3 even coats of Marshmallow White to the inside and outer body of lid.

2. When dry apply 3 coats of Shiny Black to the circle and back side of knob.

3. Use 3 coats of Wine About It for the top and edges of knob.

4. Stilt and fire to shelf cone 06.
