DH-1884 - Driftwood Indian Buffalo Hunter
Materials Needed: Various Brushes, Wooden Skewer for Spear, Chalk,
Solvent. Doc Holliday Colors: DH-08 Black, DH-29 White, DH-07 Dark Flesh, H-18 Medium Brown, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-10 Mustard, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-40 Turquoise, DH-37 Cream, DH-25 Toast, DH-34 Soft Brown, DH-23 Bone, AT-04
Red Brown Translucent, AT-01 Black Translucent, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 1: Paint markings on horse with Medium Brown.
- Step 2: Antique horse and Indian's skin with Red Brown Translucent. Wipe horse very clean with cloth dampened with solvent.
- Step 3: Wet-brush loincloth and moccasin with Toast. With same brush, add Soft Brown and wet-brush loincloth again to highlight. Wet-brush knife sheath with Leather Brown. Paint knife handle and
Indian's hair Black. Shade loincloth moccasin with a Black wash. Paint "bead" pattern with dots of Turquoise and Mustard. Paint eyes with Real brown iris (highlighted with Toast), Black pupils,
lashes and eyebrows. Paint lips with a thin wash of Leather Brown. Wet-brush animal skin Real Brown, followed by Soft Brown. Highlight edges with Cream. Shade skin with washes of Toast, Leather Brown
and Black.
- Step 4: Shade driftwood with washes of Toast, Real Brown, Leather Brown and Black. Wet-brush highlights on edges and ridges of wood with Soft Brown; highlight lightly with Cream. Paint horns Bone.
Shade around them with a Toast wash, then a Black wash. Shade around buffalo's face, back and hooves with a Black wash. Paint eyes with Real Brown iris, Black pupils.
- Step 5: Antique wood and buffalo with Black Translucent. With a cloth dampened with Solvent wipe away excess stain to highlight wood edges and buffalo's horns.
- Step 6: Blush skin with Chalk.
- Step 7: Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1867 - Driftwood Eagles Materials Needed: Greenware, Various Brushes, Matte Spray Sealer. Doc Holliday Colors: DH-08 Black,
DH-29 White, DH-25 Toast, DH-16 Flaxon Yellow, DH-18 Medium Brown, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-10 Mustard, DH-37 Cream, DH-21 Sand.
- Step 1: Basecoat heads of birds White. Tint beaks with a wash of Mustard; highlight edges with Cream. Tint tongue with a wash of Leather Brown. Paint eyes Mustard. Shade around beak and eyes
with a Toast wash. Shade deepest crevices around eyes, tongue, beak with a thin Black wash. Paint pupils Black with a White highlight.
- Step 2: Basecoat all remaining areas Black.
- Step 3: Wet-brush over Black areas with Real Brown. Without cleaning brush between colors, add Medium Brown and wet-brush birds and wood lightly. Lightly wet-brush highlights on the wings with Toast, then
Leather Brown. Shade the outer edges of wing feathers and between each section with a Black wash. Line with Black between each major feather. Wet-brush feet with Mustard; highlight with Flaxon Yellow, then
shade upper foot with a Black wash. Paint claws Black.
- Step 4: Shade and tint the wood areas with washes of Leather Brown, Toast and Real Brown. Highlight wood by wet-brushing edges with Sand followed by Cream. Shade deep crevices and shadowed areas of wood
with a Black wash. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1864 - Driftwood Buffalo Materials Needed: Greenware, Various Brushes, Matte Spray Sealer, Soft Cloth. Doc Holliday
Colors: DH-08 Black, DH-29 White, DH-37 Cream, DH-23 Bone, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-25 Toast, DH-42 Dark Gray, DH-34 Soft Brown, AT-04 Red Brown Translucent.
- Step 1: Clean greenware carefully and fire to Cone 03.
- Step 2: Basecoat buffalo's fur with Cream and hooves and nose with Soft Brown. Antique with Red Brown Translucent and wipe back with soft cloth. Wet-brush fur with White and paint horns with Bone.
Paint eyes with Real Brown and Black pupils.
- Step 3: Basecoat wood area with Black. Wet-brush wood, using Real Brown. Add Toast to same brush and highlight wood. Wet-brush wood again with Dark Gray and then highlight with Cream.
- Step 4: Shade around nose, horns and hooves with Real Brown. Shade driftwood with Black and spray with Matte Spray sealer.
DH-1882 - Driftwood Brave Materials Needed: Greenware, Various Brushes, Fired-On Silver, Cloth for antiquing, Rust Chalk. Doc Holliday Colors: DH-08 Black, DH-07 Dark Flesh, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-12
Leather Brown, DH-23 Bone, DH-25 Toast, DH-29 White, DH-37 Cream, DH-18 Medium Brown, DH-42 Dark Gray, SP-02 Mask-It, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer, CG300 Clear Glaze, AT-04 Red Brown Translucent.
- Step 1: Clean greenware carefully and fire to Cone 03. Brush Clear Glaze to round beads on necklace and fire to Cone 06. Apply Fired-On Silver to glazed area and fire to Cone 018.
- Step 2: Basecoat skin with Dark Flesh. Basecoat necklace and feathers with Bone. Antique all basecoated areas with Red Brown Translucent and wipe back with a soft cloth. Basecoat all other areas with
Black.
- Step 3: Wet-brush driftwood and fur with Real Brown. Highlight same areas with Leather Brown. Highlight driftwood again with Toast, Dark Gray and Cream. Paint bear's claws with Bone and shade around
top of claws with Toast.
- Step 4: Wet-brush necklace and feathers with Cream. Shade down each side of Silver on necklace with Toast. Shade feathers with Leather Brown. Apply a Black wash to bottom of feathers. Shade
wood with a Black wash.
- Step 5: Paint lips with a Leather Brown wash. Block eyes in with White and paint iris' Medium Brown with Black pupils. Paint eyebrows Black. Blush skin with Rust Chalk. Apply Mask-It to
Fired-On Silver and spray with Matte Spray Sealer. Peel off Mask-It.

Colors: DH-08 Black, DH-07 Dark Flesh, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-23 Bone, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-25 Toast, DH-42 Dark Gray, DH-29 White, DH-40 Turquoise, DH-37 Cream, DH-47 Silver, DH-18 Medium Brown, AT-04 Red Brown Translucent,
SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 1: Clean greenware carefully and fire to Cone 03.
- Step 2: Basecoat skin with Dark Flesh and skull with Bone. Antique skin and skull with Red Brown Translucent. Wipe back with soft cloth. Basecoat all remaining areas with Black.
- Step 3: Wet-brush wood and fur on necklace with Real Brown. Highlight same areas with Leather Brown. Highlight wood again using Toast, Dark Gray and then Cream. Paint bear's claws Bone with Black
tips.
- Step 4: Wet-brush loin cloth with Leather Brown, add designs of White and Turquoise to decorate loin cloth. Paint lips with a Leather Brown wash. paint eyes Medium Brown with Black pupils. Paint arm bands
with Silver. Blush skin with Rust Chalk. Shade wood and loin cloth with a Black wash. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1883 - Indian Chief Materials Needed: Greenware, Liquid Silver, Air Gun, Chalk, Various Brushes, Soft Cloth. Doc
Holliday Colors: DH-29 White, DH-08 Black, DH-37 Cream, DH-07 Dark Flesh, DH-25 Toast, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-18 Medium Brown, DH-16 Flaxen Yellow, DH-19 Light Gray, DH-42 Dark Gray, AT-04 Red Brown Translucent, CG300 Clear
Glaze, SP-02 Mask-It, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 1: Clean greenware and fire to Cone 03.
- Step 2: Apply Clear Glaze to arm band and to tip of spear. Fire to Cone 06.
- Step 3: Apply one coat of Liquid Silver to glazed areas and fire to Cone 018.
- Step 4: Airbrush horse Dark Gray. Highlight horse and muscle tone areas with Light Gray. Use airbrush to apply White spots on horse to give a dapple effect. Airbrush Black on tail, mussel, around
eyes, mane and front legs. Shade shadow areas lightly with Black. Paint iris' with Real Brown.
- Step 5: Basecoat Indian's skin with Dark Flesh. Antique skin with Red Brown Translucent and wipe off with a soft cloth.
- Step 6: Basecoat feathers and headdress with Cream. Shade with Leather Brown and washes of Black on tips of feathers. Use a 10/0 liner brush and separate feathers with Black. Paint spear and fur on
headdress with Real Brown then shade with Toast.
- Step 7: Paint Indian's iris with Real Brown and a wash of Toast. Paint lips with a wash of Leather Brown. Chalk Indian with Russet Chalk on cheeks and to bring out his muscle tone.
- Step 8: Paint loin cloth with Flaxen Yellow and highlight with Cream. Paint fur with Medium Brown and highlight with Cream. Shade loin cloth and fur with Black.
- Step 9: Basecoat wood Black. Wet brush with Real Brown, add medium Brown to trunk and highlight with Flaxen Yellow. Shade with washes of Leather Brown and Toast. Shade shadow areas with Black.
- Step 10: Apply Mask-It to Fired-On Silver areas and spray with Matte Spray Sealer. Peel off Mask-It.
