- Step 1:
Basecoat all flesh with Soft Brown and the girl's hair Flaxon Yellow. Antique these areas with Soft Brown Translucent.
- Step 2:
Wet-brush girl's hair with Flaxon Yellow then lighten with Cream. Shade hair with Toast.
- Step 3:
Basecoat boy's hair Real Brown and old man's hair, brows and mustache Dark Gray. Wet-brush boy's hair with Toast then shade with Real Brown. Wet-brush old man's hair, brows and mustache with
Light Gray then shade with Dark Gray.
- Step 4:
Paint boy's and girl's eyebrows with toast. Paint lips Rose. Paint eyes Country Blue with Black pupils.
- Step 5:
Basecoat snowman and ground White. Scarf on snowman is Grass Green and shade with Shadow Green. Hat on snowman is Real Brown lighten with Medium Brown.
- Step 6:
Basecoat remaining areas Black except girl's fur on coat is White.
- Step 7:
Paint old man's hat Black with Country Blue band. Paint his shirt Country Blue, vest and gloves are Dark Gray. Wet-brush pants Real Brown then lighten with Medium Brown and jacket with Leather
Brown. Shade his clothes with Black.
- Step 8:
Girl's coat and gloves are Christmas Red. Wet-brush skirt and pants country Blue, lighten skirt with White. Shade pants and skirt with Navy Blue and coat with Black. Carrot in her hand is
True Orange.
- Step 9:
Small boy's T-shirt is Red, shirt is Navy Blue, pants Country Blue, jacket and gloves are Dark Gray, hat and belt are Leather Brown. Shade his clothes with Black.
- Step 10:
Big boy's hat, gloves and turtleneck are Grass Green shaded with Shadow Green, jacket and pants are Real Brown lightened with Medium Brown. Shade his clothes with Black.
- Step 11:
All buttons and shoes are Black. Blush all flesh with Soft Pink Chalk.
- Step 12:
Box and limb are Real Brown lightened with Medium Brown then Cream. Shade with Black.
- Step 13:
Wet-brush dog Real Brown then with Toast and lighten more with Cream. Lighten underside of dog, tips of ears and tail with White. Eyes are Medium Brown with Black pupils. Shade light
parts of dog with Toast and the rest with Real Brown and Black.
- Step 14:
Spray pieces with Matte Spray Sealer. Brush Glue onto snowman and ground then sprinkle Glitter on Glue. (If desired.)

- Step 1:
Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03.
- Step 2:
Basecoat body of snowman with White. Basecoat scarf, vest, gloves and wreath with Real Brown. Basecoat hat and nose Black.
- Step 3:
Wet-brush scarf with stripes of Christmas Red, Daffodil and Christmas Green. Wet-brush vest Christmas Red and gloves with Christmas Green.
- Step 4:
Wet-brush wreath, heart and patches on vest and button eyes with bright Blue. Shade bow with Navy Blue.
- Step 5:
Wet-brush nose with Terra Cotta. Paint stripes on patches and buttons with Christmas Red, Daffodil and Christmas Green.
- Step 6:
Corner load a 1/2" Shader Brush with Black and shade each stripe of scarf to separate colors. Shade around vest and gloves with Black also.
- Step 7:
Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1963 - POLAR LIGHT (SANTA ON POLAR BEAR)

- Step 1:
Antique all fur, beard and hair with Black Translucent. Antique bear and Santa's face with Soft Brown Translucent.
- Step 2:
Wet-brush bear with Cram. Wet-brush again with White. Shade fur with washes of Soft Brown and Deep Beige. Paint eyes, footpads, nose and mouth Black.
- Step 3:
Paint lantern Navy Blue. Add Country Blue to same brush to lightly highlight lantern. Paint "light" part of lantern Daffodil. Shade edges with a wash of True Orange.
- Step 4:
Paint ribbon around bear's neck, holly leaves and all beads Leaf Green. Shade ribbons and holly leaves with Lexington Green. Apply a wash of Shadow Green over all the beads, allowing color to
settle in crevices.
- Step 5:
Wet-brush beard and hair with Light Gray; highlight with White. Paint eyes with Country Blue iris' and Black pupils.
- Step 6:
Basecoat coat, hat, mittens, paints and smooth part of boots with Leather Brown. Paint Christmas Red over the Leather Brown on all the above areas. Shade crevices and around edges of coat with
a Black wash.
- Step 7:
Wet-brush all fur with Country Blue. With color still in your brush, add White to lighten and highlight fur. Shade fur with a wash of Navy Blue.
- Step 8:
Paint soles of boots Deep Beige; shade edges with a Leather Brown wash. Paint ribbons on lantern Christmas Red and Country Blue. Shade Christmas Red ribbons with Black. Shade Country Blue
ribbons with Navy Blue. Paint berries Christmas Red. Paint Premier Gold trim on lantern and bands around beads on coat, boots and ties on boots.
- Step 9:
Paint snow White. Shade lightly with a wash of Country Blue.
- Step 10:
Blush skin with Chalk.
- Step 11:
Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 12:
Using thinned Doc's Glue, apply Ultra-Fine Glitter to snow.

- Step 1:
Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03.

Wipe off with damp sponge to remove any dust.
- Step 3:
Sketch outline of snowman on platter.
- Step 4:
Apply 3 coats Sky Blue to "sky" areas.
- Step 5:
Apply 3 coats White on snowman (including scarf and carrot).
- Step 6:
Apply 2 coats Leaf Green to scarf. Paint pattern on scarf with Cobalt Blue, Hunter Green and White. Paint eyes, mouth and hat (3 coats) with Black. Apply 3 coats Orange to carrot; detail
with Earth Red.

Fire to Cone 05.

- Step 1:
Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03.
- Step 2:
Roll glaze inside of all pieces with Clear Glaze.
- Step 3:
Apply 3 coats Perfect White to all pieces (except snowman's hat & jacket and snow woman's apron & hat).
- Step 4:
Apply 3 coats Sky Blue to apron, hat and jacket.
- Step 5:
Apply 3 coats Earth Red on candy cane stripes. Apply 3 coats Orange to noses. Apply 3 coats Black to hat and lapels. Shade apron with a wash of Cobalt Blue. Paint apron trim 2 coats
Cobalt Blue.
- Step 6:
Apply 1 coat Leaf Green to scarves and apron trim. Shade these areas with a wash of Hunter Green. Use Black to paint eyes and mouths.
- Step 7:
Fire all pieces to Cone 05.

Wet-brush horns heavily with Soft Brown. Wet-brush around eyes and edges of ears with Soft Brown also. Apply a wash of Mustard over horns and wet-brush ends of horns Cream. Wet-brush
around nose and mouth White.
- Step 3:
Wet-brush driftwood randomly with Dark Gray and then Soft Brown. Eyes are Toast with Black pupils. Apply a Black wash over top of head and horns. Shade entire piece with Black by corner
loading a 1/2" shader brush. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.

- Step 1:
Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03. Basecoat entire piece Black and then wet-brush with Real Brown. Wet-brush elk with Leather Brown and wood area lightly with same color. Highlight wood
with Toast. Apply a Black wash very lightly over elk's face and antlers.
- Step 2:
Wet-brush wood randomly with Dark Gray and then highlight with Soft Brown. Wet-brush above eyes, inside ears and back part of neck with Soft Brown. Heavily wet-brush tips of antlers with Soft
Brown also. Eyes are Real Brown with Black pupils. Shade entire piece with Black. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1930 - NATURE LANTERN MATERIALS NEEDED: Greenware, Various Brushes, SP-04 Snow-It, Gold Brush-On Glitter, Ultra-Fine Glitter, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer, FT-05 Copper Fingertip.
DOC HOLLIDAY GLAZE: DG-218 Black. DOC HOLLIDAY COLORS: DH-08 Black, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-25 Toast, DH-18 Medium Brown, DH-26 Lexington Green, DH-29 White, DH-37 Cream, DH-45 Shadow Green.
- Step 1:
Pour greenware and make all cut outs on lantern. Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03. Glaze inside of lantern with Black Glaze and wipe off access on outside of lantern. Fire to Cone 06.
- Step 2:
Basecoat lantern with Black. Wet-brush roof, branches and pine cones with Real Brown. Wet-brush roof again with Leather Brown. Add Toast to same brush and highlight roof.
- Step 3:
Wet-brush branches and pine cones with Medium Brown. Add Cream to same brush and highlight edges of pine cones. Wet-brush pine needles with Lexington Green and then add White to brush and
highlight ends of needles. Shade needles with Shadow Green and pine cones with Real Brown.
- Step 4:
Apply Fingertip Copper to edges of lantern. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer. Brush Gold Glitter over pine cones and apply Snow-It to roof. Sprinkle Ultra-Fine Glitter over Snow-It and blow
off access.
DH-1936 - SWISS BIRDHOUSE MATERIALS NEEDED:
Greenware, Various Brushes, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer. DOC HOLLIDAY COLORS: DH-09 Real Brown, DH-12 Leather Brown, DH-24 Terra
Cotta, DH-25 Toast, DH-01 Daffodil.
- Step 1:
Clean greenware and Fire to Cone 03. Basecoat all windows with Daffodil. Shade inside of windows with Terra Cotta.
- Step 2:
Basecoat rest of birdhouse Real Brown. Wet-brush roof first with Leather Brown and then Terra Cotta. wet-brush walls Toast and paint door and trim around windows Terra Cotta. Spray with
Matte Spray Sealer.
DH-1939 - GOURD BIRDHOUSE MATERIALS NEEDED:
Greenware, Salt & Pepper Drill, Cleaning Tools, (Optional: Masking Tape, Small Sponge, Clear Glaze, Dish Drainer), Pencil,
Airbrush, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer, Clear Plastic Stopper. DOC HOLLIDAY COLORS: DH-21 Sand, DH-25 Toast, DH-29 White, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-45 Shadow Green, DH-08 Black, DH-37 Cream, DH-16 Flaxon Yellow, DH-42
Dark Gray, DH-19 Light Gray, DH-10 Mustard, DH-22 Christmas Red, DH-30 Country Blue, DH-01 Daffodil.
- Step 1:
While greenware is still damp, use salt and pepper drill to make holes through top of gourd. Cut out hole for bird entrance. Allow greenware to dry then clean and fire as usual.
- Step 2:
Use Masking Tape over small holes and a small damp sponge to plug bird entrance. Then some Clear Glaze to rolling consistency and pour inside bottom hole. Tilt and rotate gourd to ensure
complete coverage inside. Pour excess back into container. Place gourd inside dish drainer, allow to drain further and dry. Remove tape and sponge wipe off any glaze on outside of gourd. Fire according to
manufacturer's directions.
- Step 3:
Airbrush (or basecoat) entire gourd with Sand.
- Step 4:
Airbrush vertical (not harsh) lines and make stem darker with Toast.
- Step 5:
Airbrush a White circular area on front of gourd.
- Step 6:
The pine branch with the three Black Capped Chickadee looking birds was free handed. Lightly sketch design with a pencil. Start with a horizontal line that is slightly curved upward at the
tip. Draw three small circles (about the size of a quarter) touching the branch. Next, draw a dime sized circle on top of each of the other circles. Now that you have the general placement of the birds,
refer to the photo and start adding details like the beaks, wings, tail feathers, feet, hats and scarves.
- Step 7:
Paint branch with Real Brown. Using a Toast wash, make small, barely visible lines that crisscross the entire branch; also make some small dots randomly on branch from which the pine needles sprout
from.
- Step 8:
Thin some Shadow Green, using a long liner brush, paint the pine needles. Thin some Black and add some needles randomly throughout the branch. Continue with Shadow Green until desired look is
achieved.
- Step 9:
Using a round bristle brush, dab into Cream and pounce on paper a couple of times before applying to quarter sized circles. With Cream still in your brush, dab into Flaxon Yellow and lightly touch on
sides of bird's chests. Add a little White to the center of bird's chests and to dime sized circles (bird's head's).
- Step 10:
Refer to the photo (or a bird book) for placement of these various colors: Black on head, Dark Gray, Light Gray on the wings and tail, Mustard for the feet.
- Step 11:
Colors used for hats and scarves: Christmas Red and White mixed to make pink, Country Blue, White and Daffodil.
- Step 12:
Airbrush White over design lightly to give appearance of snow.
- Step 13:
Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 14:
Thread a piece of chain, rope or leather through holes if suspending and insert plastic stopper in bottom.
DH-1935 - COUNTRY CABIN BIRDHOUSE MATERIALS NEEDED: Greenware, Cleaning Tools, Various Brushes, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer, S-04 Snow-It, Ultra-Fine White Iridescent Glitter, 3" Diameter

- Step 1:

Wet-brush Toast across bench, edge of porch roof, columns, shutters, steps and wood stacks. Lighten wood stacks with Soft Brown.
- Step 8:
Paint doors with Leather Brown. Fill in window panes and paint door knobs with Black.
- Step 9:
Using Light Gray, fill in bottom portion of windows. Using Country Blue, paint tattered curtains in windows.
- Step 10:
Outline curtains with Navy Blue.
- Step 11:
Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.
- Step 12:
Apply Snow-It to desired areas then immediately sprinkle with Ultra-Fine Iridescent Glitter.
