Fired On Gold Instructions: 1) Fire greenware to cone 03. 2) Apply two coats of CG Clear Glaze to areas where gold will be.  Fire to cone 05. 3) Apply one even coat of Liquid Brite Gold to clear glazed area.  Fire to cone 018.

DH1950-DRAGON OF LOVE MATERIALS NEEDED:  Various brushes, SP08-Matte Spray Sealer, Chalk for blushing skin, Greenware, AT05-Soft Brown Translucent. ACRYLIC STAINS NEEDED:  DH08-Black, DH29-White, DH34-Soft Brown, DH02-Butter Cream, DH37-Cream, DH25-Toast, DH14-Rose, DH52-Cranberry, DH31-Leaf Green, DH26-Lexington Green, DH40-Turquoise, DH27-Midnight Blue, DH19-Light Grey

  • STEP 1:  Basecoat girl's skin Soft Brown; her hair Butter Cream.  Antique these areas with Soft Brown translucent.
  • STEP 2:  Basecoat her skirt Rose; shade folds and creases with a Cranberry wash.  Basecoat remaining areas of dress with White; shade creases and folds lightly with a Rose wash.  Paint trim and details on dress Cranberry.  Paint flowers in hair with Rose and Cranberry; leaves Leaf Green, shaded with Lexington Green.  Wetbrush her hair with Butter Cream; highlight with Cream.  Shade curls and waves with Toast wash.  Paint her lips with Rose, her eyes with Country Blue iris'.  Blush skin with chalk.
  • STEP 3:  Basecoat dragon's belly White.  Shade edges and sections with a Turquoise wash.
  • STEP 4:  Basecoat all remaining areas Black.
  • STEP 5:  Wetbrush dragon (except hair and spikes) with Midnight Blue.  Gradually lighten the Midnight Blue with Turquoise and wetbrush highlights on body.  Wetbrush spikes, hair and along edges of belly with Rose; highlight with White.  Shade with a Cranberry wash.
  • STEP 6:  Wetbrush rocks with Light Grey. Shade and tint them with washes of Rose, Cranberry and Turquoise.  Highlight them lightly with Cream.
  • STEP 7:  Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.

DH1951 - DRAGON OF PEACE MATERIALS NEEDED:  CG300-Clear Glaze,  Liquid Fired Gold, AT05-Soft Brown Antiquing, SP07-Krackle-It, Pearl-It. ACRYLIC STAINS NEEDED:  DH10-Mustard, DH08-Black, DH01-Daffodil, DH41-Willow Green, DH27-Midnight Blue, DH43-Teal, DH25-Toast, DH12-Leather Brown, DH09-Real Brown, DH16-Flaxon Yellow, DH37-Cream, DH52-Cranberry, DH22-Christmas Red, DH49-Premier Gold, DH47-Silver, DH19-Light Grey, DH05-Purple, DH06-Lavender, DH29-White

  • STEP 1:  Clean greenware and fire to cone 03.
  • STEP 2:  Apply two coats of Clear Glaze and fire to cone 05.  Apply one coat of liquid fired gold to glazed areas and fire to cone 018 (refer to photo on where to place gold).
  • STEP 3:  Basecoat everything Black, except the skin and hair.  Paint skin with Soft Brown and hair with Daffodil.  Antique with Soft Brown.  Wife off with a soft cloth.
  • STEP 4:  Wet brush dragon with Willow Green.  Paint belly with Midnight Blue then use Krackle-It.  Wet brush belly with Willow Green.  Shade dragon with Midnight Blue.  Shade top of wings with Midnight Blue.  Mix Teal with a small drop of Pearl-It to highlight tips of wings.
  • STEP 5:  Wet brush knights hair with Cream and shade with Toast.  Paint thin wash of Leather Brown to lips.  Paint eyes with Teal.  Chalk cheeks with russet chalk.
  • STEP 6:  Paint robe with Purple.  Highlight with Lavender and shade with Midnight Blue.
  • STEP 7:  Paint armor and sword with Silver, going against the grain.  Paint loom White, shade with Cranberry.
  • STEP 8:  Wet brush wood Real Brown. Highlight with Toast and Bone.  Wetbrush bark with Flaxon Yellow and highlight with Cream.  Shade with Toast and Black.
  • STEP 9:  Paint shield with Christmas Red and Premier Gold.  Paint thin line with Black to show separation.
  • STEP 10:  Wetbrush rocks with Light Grey.  Apply washes of Toast, Country Blue, and Mustard.  Wetbrush Cream then shade with Black.
  • STEP 11:  Apply Mask-it to golded areas and spray with Matte Spray.

DH-1954 - MILLENNIUM DRAGON MATERIALS NEEDED:  Greenware, Various Brushes, Clear Glaze, Liquid Fired-On Gold, SP-02 Mask-It, SP-08 Matte Spray Sealer, Gold & Crystal Brush on Glitter, SP-07 Krackle-It. DOC HOLLIDAY COLORS:  DH-49 Premier Gold, DH-37 Cream, DH-29 White, DH-33 Deep Beige, DH-30 Country Blue, DH-35 Powder Blue, DH-09 Real Brown, DH-18 Medium Brown, DH-38 Grass Green, DH-31 Leaf Green, DH-36 Navy Blue, DH-24 Terra Cotta, DH-08 Black.

  • Step 1:  Clean greenware carefully and Fire to Cone 03.  Apply 3 coats of Clear Glaze to following areas:  Tongue, toenails, end of tail, tips of wings, horns, on top of nose and scales in center of belly.  Fire to Cone 06.  Using a brush reserved for Gold, apply to all glazed areas and Fire to Cone 018.
  • Step 2:  Basecoat entire dragon with Premier Gold.  Brush Krackle-It on belly and underside of tail.  Allow to dry 30 to 60 minutes and brush Cream over belly and underside of tail.
  • Step 3:  Basecoat world and clouds with Country Blue.  Basecoat continents on world with Real Brown.  Wet-brush dragon first with Cream and then with White.  Shade entire dragon with Deep Beige.  Wet-brush over Blue area of world with Powder Blue.  Wet-brush continents using Medium Brown and then Grass Green.  Add Leaf Green to same brush and highlight.  Shade around continents with Navy Blue.  Paint eyes Terra Cotta with Black slits and teeth are painted Cream.
  • Step 4:  Wet-brush clouds with White and then shade with Country Blue to define and separate.  Apply Mask-It to all Gold areas and then spray with Matte Spray Sealer.  Remove Mask-It from Gold and use Gold Brush-On Glitter on dragon and Crystal Brush-On Glitter on clouds.

1953 - DRAGON OF FRIENDSHIP DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED:  DH08-Black, DH29-White, DH19-Light Gray, DH22-Christmas Red, DH52-Cranberry, DH44-Blue Suede, DH37-Cream, DH12-Leather Brown, DH01-Daffodil, DH43-Teal, DH25-Toast, DH09-Real Brown, DH49-Premier Gold, SP02-Mask-it, SP08-Matte Spray Sealer, AT04-Red Brown Translucent.

  • Step 1:  Basecoat entire piece except wizard's skin with Black.  Basecoat skin Soft Brown.  Antique with Red Brown translucent.
  • Step 2:  Wetbrush rocks with Light Gray.  Shade and tint them with washes of Christmas Red, Blue Suede, Cranberry and Black.  Lightly wetbrush highlights on rocks with Cream.
  • Step 3:  Wetbrush belly, horns, spikes with White.  Shade crevices with a wash of Christmas Red, then Cranberry.
  • Step 4:  Wetbrush dragon with Leather Brown.  Wetbrush again with Cranberry.  Wetbrush using edges with Blue Suede.  Paint eyes Daffodil with Black pupils.
  • Step 5:  Wetbrush wizard's robe and gown Blue Suede.  Add Cream to same brush and highlight folds and edges.  Paint trim areas with Premier Gold.  Shade around trim with a Teal wash.  Wetbrush hair with Real Brown; highlight with Toast.  Paint show Real Brown with Premier Gold straps.  Paint eyes with Toast iris and Black pupils.
  • Step 6:  Blush skin with chalk.
  • Step 7:  Apply Mask-it to Fired Gold.  Spray with Matte Spray Sealer. Remove Mask-it.

DH1968 - SMALL ICE DRAGON DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED:  CG300-Clear Glaze, G8-White Glitter, SP05-Doc's Glue, SP02-Mask-it, SP08-Matte Spray Sealer, DH29-White, DH37-Cream, DH15-Mystic Purple, DH06-Lavender, DH27-Midnight Blue, DH13-Petal Pink

  • Step 1:  Basecoat piece with Cream.  Wetbrush dragon with Mystic Purple and highlight with Lavender.  Apply a wash of Petal Pink on face, legs and body.  Shade body with Midnight Blue.
  • Step 2:  Wetbrush wings with Lavender and apply a wash of Petal Pink on wings and shade with Midnight Blue.
  • Step 3:  Basecoat belly with Lavender and hair on head.  Highlight with White.  Shade with Mystic Purple.
  • Step 4:  Wetbrush rocks with White and add washes of Petal Pink and Lavender.
  • Step 5:  Apply White Glitter on white using Doc's Glue.
  • Step 6:  Apply Mask-it to fired on gold areas.  Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.  Remove Mask-it. 

DH 1969 - SMALL GRAND DRAGON DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED:  SP02-Mask-It, SP08-Matte Spray Sealer, SP07-Krackle-It,  DH01-Daffodil, DH37-Cream, DH03-True Orange, DH22-Christmas Red, DH19-Light Gray, DH08-Black

  • Step 1:  Basecoat dragon's belly Christmas Red.  Apply one coat Krackle-It on belly.  Let dry.  Apply one heavy coat Daffodil over Krackle-It.
  • Step 2:  Basecoat remaining parts of dragon, except mouth and smooth part of head, with Daffodil.
  • Step 3:  Using washes of True Orange and Christmas Red, shade edges of wings and crevices in wings and body, and along sides and creases of belly.  Paint tongue and smooth part of head with Christmas Red.  Paint teeth Cream.  Paint eyes Leaf Green with Black pupils.
  • Step 4:  Basecoat rocks Black.  Wetbrush rocks with Light Gray.  Shade and tint them with washes of True Orange, Christmas Red and Black.  Lightly wetbrush highlights on rocks with Cream. 
  • Step 5:  Apply Mask-it to fired-on-gold areas. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer. Remove Mask-it.

1971 - SMALL WAR LORD DRAGON DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED:  DH08-Black, DH19-Light Gray, DH22-Christmas Red, DH03-True Orange, DH12-Leather Brown, DH37-Cream, DH01-Daffodil, DH52-Cranberry, DH23-Bone, DH40-Turquoise, SP02-Mask-It, SP08-Matte Spray

  • Step 1:  Basecoat entire piece Black.
  • Step 2:  Wetbrush rocks Light Gray.  Shade and tint them with washes of Christmas Red, True Orange, Leather Brown and Black.  Lightly wetbrush them with Cream to highlight.
  • Step 3:  Wetbrush dragon with Leather Brown.  Repeat with Christmas Red. With color still in your brush add increasing amounts of True Orange, then Daffodil and wetbrush highlights on dragon.  Shade dragon with a wash of Cranberry.
  • Step 4:  Paint eyes Turquoise, with Black pupils.  Paint teeth and nails Bone.  Shade piece, as necessary with a Black wash.
  • Step 5:  Apply Mask-it to Fired-on-gold areas.  Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.  Remove Mask-it.

DH1972 - SMALL GUARDIAN DRAGON (TWO HEADED) DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED:  DH08-Black, DH29-White, DH19-Light Gray, DH15-Mystic Purple, DH25-Toast, DH37-Cream, DH26-Lexington Green, DH31-Leaf Green, DH01-Daffodil, DH45-Shadow Green, DH23-Bone, SP02-Mask-It, SP08-Matte Spray Sealer

  • Step 1:  Basecoat entire piece Black.
  • Step 2:  Wetbrush rocks Light Gray.  Shade and tint them with washes of Mystic Purple, Toast, and Black.  Lightly wetbrush with Cream to highlight.
  • Step 3:  Wetbrush dragon's body and wings with Lexington Green.  With color still in your brush, add increasing amounts of Leaf Green and wetbrush highlights on body and wings.  Lighten color further with Daffodil and highlight around face.  Shade body and wings with a wash of Shadow Green.
  • Step 4:  Wetbrush hair, back bumps and around face with Mystic Purple.  Lighten color with White and highlight edges.  Paint teeth Bone.  Paint eyes Daffodil with Black pupils.  Shade entire piece as necessary, with a Black wash (in the crevices, around rocks, deeper areas of body, etc.)
  • Step 5:  Apply Mask-It to fired-on-gold areas. Spray with Matte Spray Sealer.  Remove Mask-it.

DH1981 - SMALL TREASURE DRAGON MATERIALS NEEDED:  Greenware, various brushes, CG300-Clear Glaze, liquid fired gold, SP02-Mask-It, SP08-Matte Spray, rhinestones, G6-Gold Glitter, SP05-Doc's Glue, SP12-Pearl-It. DOC HOLLIDAY COLORS:  DH08-Black, DH36-Navy Blue, DH29-White, DH06-Lavender, DH15-Mystic Purple, DH14-Rose, DH19-Light Gray, DH09-Real Brown, DH23-Bone, DH25-Toast, DH12-Leather Brown, DH49-Premier Gold, DH34-Soft Brown, DH37-Cream, DH30-Country Blue

  • Step 1:  Clean greenware and fire to cone 03.  Apply 3 coats of Clear Glaze to toenails, belly, each side of nose and fire to cone 06.  Apply liquid bright gold to glazed areas and fire to cone 018.
  • Step 2:  Basecoat entire piece Black.  Wetbrush rocks Light Gray.  Add washes of Mystic Purple and Navy Blue.  Highlight rocks with Cream.  Wetbrush tree trunk Real Brown.  Highlight with Leather Brown and Toast.  Wetbrush top of trunk with Soft Brown.
  • Step 3:  Wetbrush dragon Navy Blue.  Add White to same brush and highlight dragon.  Wetbrush ridge down back, fur on top of head and under chin with Lavender.  Highlight fur with White.
  • Step 4:  Add a little Pearl-It to Mystic Purple and highlight dragons body and wings lightly.  Paint tongue, nose and teeth with Cream.  Paint eyes Country Blue with Black pupils.
  • Step 5:  Wetbrush treasure chest Real Brown and then Leather Brown.  Wetbrush skull Bone.  Paint pearls White and coins Premier Gold.  Shade piece with a Black wash.  Apply Mask-It to all gold areas and allow to dry.  Spray with Matte Spray.  Peel off Mask-It.  Glue rhinestones randomly around treasure chest.  Sprinkle gold glitter around coins.

DH1999 - AMBUSH DRAGON MATERIALS NEEDED:  SP02-Mask-It, SP03-Gloss-It, FT03-Green Mist, SP08-Matte Spray, CG300-Clear Glaze, Fired on Gold, SP12-Pearl-It. DOC HOLLIDAY STAINS:  DH08-Black, DH37-Cream, DH52-Cranberry, DH22-Christmas Red, DH17-Flesh, DH01-Daffodil, DH04-True Red, DH32-Christmas Green, DH41-Willow Green, DH27-Midnight Blue, DH09-Real Brown, DH12-Leather Brown, DH25-Toast, DH42-Dark Gray, DH19-Light Gray, DH30-Country Blue, DH44-Blue Suede, DH03-True Orange

  • STEP 1:  Clean greenware and fire to cone 03.
  • STEP 2:  Apply two coats of clear glaze to areas that fired on gold is to be placed.  Fire to cone 05.  Apply one coat of fired on gold to glazed areas and fire to cone 018.
  • STEP 3:  Basecoat entire piece Black.  Wetbrush dragon body Cranberry.  With same brush highlight with Christmas Red, add Flesh to dirty brush ad highlight raised areas. Shade dragon with Cranberry.  Apply small amount of Pearl-It on body.
  • STEP 4:  Paint eyes Daffodil, shade with Christmas Red.  Paint teeth with Cream.  Paint tongue with True Red.  Outline eyes and teeth with Black.
  • STEP 5:  Wetbrush bottom scales, legs and wings with Christmas Green and highlight with Willow Green.  Shade all areas with wash of Midnight Blue.  Apply Green Mist finger-tip on bottom of scales, legs and wings.
  • STEP 6:  Wetbrush log Real Brown.  Wetbrush outer bark with Leather Brown and highlight with Toast.  Wetbrush inner part of bark Dark Gray and highlight with Light Gray and shade with Country Blue.  Shade log with Black.
  • STEP 7:  Wetbrush rocks with Light Gray and paint washes of Blue Suede, Cranberry, True Orange and Midnight Blue.  Wetbrush rocks with Cream and shade with Black.
  • STEP 8:  Apply Mask-It on gold and spray with Matte Spray.  Apply one coat of Gloss-It to dragons body.  Peel off mask-it and buff gold with soft cloth.

DH1970 - SMALL FLYING DRAGON DOC HOLLIDAY PRODUCTS NEEDED: DH08-Black, DH22-Christmas Red, DH42-Dark Gray, DH19-Light Gray, DH29-White, DH09-Real Brown, DH25-Toast, DH12-Leather Brown, DH34-Soft Brown, DH10-Mustard, DH49-Premier Gold, DH37-Cream

  • Step 1:  Clean greenware in usual manner and fire to cone 03.
  • Step 2:  Basecoat entire piece Black.  Paint belly of dragon with Christmas Red. Wetbrush dragon lightly with Dark Gray and then highlight with Light Grey.  Paint ridges down back with Christmas Red.  Wetbrush fur under chin White.  Eyes are painted Mustard with Black pupil.  Teeth are White.
  • Step 3:  Wetbrush rocks Light Gray and then add washes of Toast and Leather Brown.  Highlight edges of rocks with Cream.
  • Step 4:  Wetbrush tree with Real Brown and highlight with Toast.  Wetbrush smooth part of tree with Soft Brown.  Shade entire piece with Black.  Paint toenails, ridge around face and horns with Premier Gold.  Spray with Matte Spray.
